- 2c packed brown sugar
- 1c shortening
- 1/2c buttermilk
- 1t vanilla
- Mix together, stir in remaining ingredients
- 4c oats
- 1 3/4c white or whole wheat flour
- 1t baking soda
- 3/4t salt
Variation: Add boiled raisins (1 cup raisins with just enough water to cover, cooked in microwave until soft)
